Which Account Type to Choose?

For beginners

The size of your future income will most likely depend on the type of account you choose. Your choice should be mainly based on your knowledge level, trading experience, trading strategy, and the number of funds you are willing to invest in.

There are several main types of trading accounts on Forex:

  • Demo
  • Cent
  • Standard or classic
  • ECN
  • Copy trading
  • Swap-free

Demo Accounts

This is a perfect type for novice traders. The demo account has the same trading conditions as a real account, however, trading here is carried out with virtual funds. The main characteristics of this type:

  1. No investment required
  2. You trade with virtual funds, therefore there is no risk of losses, but there is no profit as well.
  3. Perfect for practicing for beginners and testing new trading strategies.

In FXCL, you can open up to 20 demo accounts. To start trading, you only need to register a Trader’s Cabinet and download the trading terminal - MetaTrader 4. On a demo account, you can test your trading strategy and choose the real account that suits you best.

Cent Accounts

Before switching to trading with real money you need to master one important skill - trading without emotions involved. When risks become real, it can be quite difficult to control your feelings, which leads to trading out of revenge, over-trading, and eventually to huge losses. To reduce potential damages, start with a cent account:

  1. Trading is held in cents, not dollars. With a deposit of only $10, you will get 1000 cents on your account.
  2. You can trade much smaller volumes.
  3. Available leverage up to 1:1000.
  4. Reduced risks due to cent trading.

Standard or Classic Accounts

In FXCL, this type of account is called Mini. Mini account is suitable for both beginners and experienced traders, as it has the most standard trading conditions:

  1. Leverage up to 1:500
  2. No fees or commissions
  3. Most well-known strategies and Expert Advisors are allowed
  4. Tight fixed spreads from 0

Standard types of accounts are mainly suitable for traders who prefer long positions and use trend trading. Those who prefer news trading and open short positions (scalping) usually choose ECN accounts.

ECN Accounts

This type of accounts is the number one choice of experienced traders. Trading on ECN accounts is conducted automatically. The trader directly interacts with the liquidity provider, without the participation of a broker. That is why you always get the best prices when trading on these accounts.

Key features of ECN accounts:

  1. Fast order execution
  2. Tight floating spreads
  3. Leverage up to 1:500
  4. Best Bid/Ask prices received directly from liquidity providers

At FXCL, you can try your hand in trading on ECN with a low-risk ECN Cent account. It has all the advantages of ECN accounts, but you can trade with smaller volumes.

Copy Trading Accounts

Copy trading has revolutionized Forex trading. Today anyone can start making money in the foreign exchange market without delving into the theory and without wasting their time.

On copy trading accounts you find experienced traders with consistent income and follow to their profiles. Thanks to the advanced system, all their transactions will be automatically copied to your trading account. It’s a good profit without extra effort.

Key features of copy trading accounts:

  1. Simple registration and easy system of finding suitable traders.
  2. All trades are made automatically. No constant monitoring required.
  3. Consistent income due to copying transactions of professional traders.
  4. Minimum deposit - $150.
  5. Leverage up to 1: 200.

If forex trading is not your main type of income, then copy trading is probably the best solution for you. A little tip: to increase the chances of success, it is better to copy the transactions of several traders at the same time.

Swap-Free Accounts

A swap-free account is not a separate type of account. There is one main difference of this kind of accounts - you don’t pay a commission or swap for transferring your transactions from one trading day to another. This is relevant only for traders who prefer long positions.

Swap-free accounts have been specifically designed for Muslims, as they are not allowed to receive swaps. Therefore, such accounts are also called Islamic.

That's all you need to know about the main account types. On our website, you will find a detailed description in a convenient comparison table. Before the final choice, carefully study all the conditions and try your hand on a demo account first. So, when you switch to real trading, you will be ready for everything that the Forex market has prepared for you.
